Position Description
Investigates suspicious insurance claims or insurance related activities covering all lines of business involving claimants, agents, brokers, attorneys, medical providers, etc., to support the Claims Organization or for the pursuit of appropriate remedies through the civil or criminal justice system.
Gathers facts on issues in question through interviewing and statement taking of employers, claimants and other relevant witnesses.
Obtains physical and documentary evidence to support investigations.
Prepares objective and concise written reports of investigations.
Testifies and presents evidence at administrative and criminal court proceedings as required.
Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with insured's, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, corporate employees, and the general public.
Demonstrates appropriate liaison with the fraud department, regulatory and law enforcement agencies as applicable.
Provides prompt courteous customer service to our internal and external customers and business partners to include timely contacts with employers, complainants and others.
Complies with all regulatory and compliance standards to include reporting all suspect claims in jurisdictions where required in accordance with federal, state and local laws and company guidelines
Performs training as directed.
Complies with all performance standards.
Position Requirements
Strong analytical decision making, problem solving, oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize case load with limited supervision
Ability to organize data and write concise investigative reports, when necessary
Working knowledge of criminal and civil justice systems
Possess research capabilities and the ability to prepare comprehensive reports
PC skills and various database search systems
Demonstrated ability to proficiently type required reports and documents for review by senior management
Ability to work to tight timelines when necessary
Ability to work as a team player
Must possess a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record
Willing and able to travel, to include possible overnight stays, for extended periods of time and work irregular days and hours as required.
Ability to quickly learn new concepts in insurance related area

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
