Position Description
The Research Specialist will investigate murine models of chemically induced acute lung injury. The incumbent must perform complex technical analysis and self-directed experimentation. Careful record keeping is required with the ability to design and implement protocols and work with senior researchers as needed. Daily responsibilities will include any of the following: small animal manipulations, tissue dissections, inhalation chamber operation and analytical chemistry, histophathology imaging andDNAgenotyping.
The Research Specialist must be capable of interpreting complex data analysis and evaluating preliminary output data and troubleshooting technical problems. Additional duties include: training and evaluating students and other lab personnel, must be able to operate complex scientific equipment and perform laboratory maintenance ordering and record keeping as well as ensuring a safe work environment through application of radiation safety,IACUC, chemical hygiene and biosafety protocols.
Candidates should have a Bachelor of Science degree and 1-2 years experience with a strong background in molecular and cell biology. Experience in small animal surgery, isolation mRNA performing qRT-PCRand conducting inhalation exposures are a must. Requires skills of independent laboratory management.
