Position Description
This Senior Lab Manager position will perform various complex preparatory and surgical procedures for the research lab, inclduing electronic monitoring of animals.
Position is primarily responsible for the data collection and day-to-day supervision of procedures and maintenance of the research lab. Devises novel experimental protocols/methods, operates complex lab equipment and assay measures, and troubleshoots. Formulates and executes new lab practices and experimental systems to address research questions.
Interviews candidates and has a primary role in selection, orientation, training, and work assignments for exempt and non-exempt lab staff(e.g., research techs and post-doctoral fellows). Interacts with other primary investigator colleagues to adapt their systems to the unique problems of the lab. Responsible for day-to-day detailed financial and budgetary operations of the lab.

Overall Related Experience Level Required 5-6 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
PhD degree plus 3 years of professional level lab management experience is preferred, however extensive years of experience may substitute advanced degree. Minimum of bachelor's degree in biologic or chemical science is required plus at least 5 years of professional level lab management experience required.
