This position is located in Oakland, PA.
Perform coagulation and molecular testing on patient/blood product specimens including specimen processing, quality control, data entry, inventory control and new assay development.
1. Major Activity: Perform all aspects of laboratory testing (including routine and specialty testing, research and development, and new assay implementation) o All coagulation, routine and specialty, testing; automated and manual methods o Molecular testing including infectious disease and genetic tests o Limited hematology, i.e. CBC, platelet counts (patient and blood products) o Research studies and new test development; including validation and implementation o Specimen processing o Review & release of testing results o Additional duties as required by manager
2. Major Activity: Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities o Perform daily, weekly, monthly, etc. quality control functions o QA/QC data collection and identify trends and other issues to the manager o Equipment maintenance, minor repair and troubleshooting o Participate in departmental quality assurance meetings
3. Major Activity: Help maintain inventory of supplies o Specimen inventory management o Deficient plasma aliquoting o Supply inventory management including identifying needed supplies and stocking received items
4. Major Activity: Share in on-call responsibilities o Take weekly Call in rotation with other techs
5. Major Activity: Other duties as assigned.

o Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related Science (Biology, Chemistry) required.
o 3 years relevant experience required o 3 years of testing experience preferred. o Experience in a research environment a plus o Basic Math skills and statistical analysis. o Ability to perform multiple tasks including multiple testing scenarios simultaneously. o Able to follow standard operating procedures, supervisor instructions, ability to troubleshoot equipment/assays o Language skills must include the ability to read, write, speak English effectively and follow oral and written instructions consistent with policies and procedure, SOPs or other requirements.
The majority of the work hours are spent standing, sitting, and using hands. Able to lift up to 30 pounds. Close vision and ability to focus on paperwork and computer screens. Ability to respond to audible alarms. Manual dexterity in test performance. OSHA I: Employee will perform task/duties that will put them at risk for exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore, universal/standard precautions required.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
