Summary:
The Systems Analyst is responsible for monitoring and coordinating activities occurring within the Pittsburgh Service Center Data Center. The Systems Analyst provides technology expertise and process leadership of new and existing technologies in order to minimize facility outages and maximize server uptime. In addition, the Systems Analyst will assist with the administration and coordination of disaster recovery (DR) activities to ensure full restoration of business critical systems in the event of a prolonged loss of the Data Center.
KEY
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily Data Center activities.
Manage delivery, installation and removal of servers and network equipment in the PSC Data Center.
Coordinate with other groups to ensure timely installation of necessary Infrastructure (power, cabling, etc) in the Data Center.
Assist with coordination of Disaster Recovery planning and help with annual tests.
Support activities related to disaster recovery data tapes creation. Verify the correct tapes are moved off site.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field or equivalent work experience
Candidate must have experience in an area of IT Infrastructure (networking, servers, mainframes, PCs)
Candidate must have basic IT project management knowledge
Candidate must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to interact with team members, other IT support groups, and customers effectively.
Candidate must have the ability to follow safe-job procedures.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience participating in or managing a disaster recovery event
Highly self-motivated and flexible
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage priorities for timely completion of assignments with minimal supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Be able to lift 50 pounds and possess physical fitness necessary to work in a heavy-industry environment
24/7 off-hours support including weekends and evenings as required
Limited travel within a 50 mile radius of the Pittsburgh Service Center
