U. S. Steel currently has an opening for a Director - Operations Logistics Services at our location in Pittsburgh, PA. This position directs, plans, and administers the overall activities and functions of centralized truck dispatch to meet corporate and customer shipping requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs steel product shipments by truck from any US Steel producing facility or joint venture to meet customer requirements.
Directs and monitors CTD daily activity to ensure expectations are being met.
Leads the transformational and process changes necessary within Logistics, Business Planning, Processed Products, and Commercial to enhance corporate initiatives.
Cultivate and develop CTD personnel to embrace change and proactively work towards meeting on-time delivery targets to enhance customer delight.
Directs and ensures redesign of new Carrier Performance Scorecard that encompasses department target goals. Develops and Leads carrier communication and accountability discussions.
Develops, cultivates, and maintains Executive Level carrier contacts, and utilizes to strategically drive success in meeting capacity needs and on-time delivery parameters.
Develop relationships with internal customers and meet regularly to ensure logistics operations are meeting customer expectations, learn about new requirements, forecast review and review performance measurements.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Business Planning, Systems, or other relevant Business degree.
15-years experience in Business, Customer Service, and Logistics required.
Negotiation and process improvement experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint.
In-depth knowledge of all sub-department functions, company policies and procedures.
A working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Planning and organizing skills.
Analytical ability and sound judgment.
Problem solving ability.
Ability to manage subordinates, delegate effectively utilizing subordinates capabilities.
Safety conscious in office environment.
