Senior Wayside Project Engineer

Ansaldo STS USA is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Wayside Project Engineer for our Wayside & Systems team. The ideal candidate enjoys leading a dynamic and passionate group to understand and solve technical problems while considering impacts on the overall system and business and maintaining a focus on safety and rigor. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Mission:
Safely deliver solutions for our customer's signaling projects in accordance with industry and company standards. Lead the requirements development and technical coordination for a multi-disciplinary project team to drive the successful project delivery.
Accountabilities:
Ensure the successful on time, on quality, and on budget delivery of the overall wayside signaling solution according to the contract and supporting the Project Manager
Lead wayside engineering team via assignment and monitoring of detailed tasks and managing day-to-day interfaces and handoffs
Lead work packet project monitoring and control activities including developing and maintaining schedule, deliverables lists, cost to complete, monthly project report updates, resource plans, meeting minutes, and change requests
Ensure that an updated list of project objectives, actions, and critical issues is maintained, discussed, and agreed with the Project Manager
Lead the management of requirements relative to the system design for the entire life cycle of the project (for Wayside subsystem and at times in support of the integrated signaling system)
Understand and apply industry standards (e.g. CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, etc.)
Identify development and procurement needs based on customer requirements and identify gaps in current product and technical solution
Interface with the customer and act as cross-functional technical liaison among the subsystems
Define and maintain configuration management plan for signaling projects
Evaluate technical risks and propose and document design solutions through acceptance
Responsible for the creation of purchase technical specifications and review and acceptance of internal and external deliverables
Support factory and site testing relevant to the system performance
Create medium to large and complex hardware and software requirement specifications and architecture design documents
Required Skills/ Knowledge:
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline is required
3 to 5
years of experience as design, project, or lead engineer for complex systems
Prior experience managing medium sized projects and project teams
Success with multi-tasking across multiple projects at given time
Desired Skills/ Knowledge:
Prefer rail or rail transit signaling domain experience
Familiar with Wayside signaling products, technology, and project deliverables
Prefer experience supporting Bids and Proposals for new work
Professional Engineering license or EIT is a plus
Continuing education is a plus
Builds effective relationships and has exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
Excellent leadership skills in motivating project/product personnel towards a common goal
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to provide optimal solutions
Strong prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera), requirements management systems, and configuration methods and tools
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline is required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
