Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of ministry's programs, plans and systems to ensure Life Safety and Environment of Care compliance with local, state, federal, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) readiness requirements - specifically NFPA-101 Life Safety Code and NFPA-99 Life Safety Code.Promotes and leads a world class continuous readiness program that emphasizes quality, efficiency, patient/visitor/associate safety and thought leadership as it relates to the built environment.Oversees, at a system-level, the day-to-day program operations and workflow for the system's acute care hospitals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Proactively leads the ongoing evaluation, planning and support of the continuous readiness processes and infrastructure to ensure TJC accreditation and other regulatory accreditation, certifications, and applicable Healthcare organizational licenses. Responsible for the process for and conducting facility technical fire and life safety inspections and assessments on a periodic basis for quality assurance; ensures facility procedures comply with local, state, federal regulations and TJC requirements. Upon inspection and assessment completion, ensures development of concise and comprehensive reports detailing deficiencies, guidance, and cost-effective strategies to resolve. Partners with the facility-based teams to support follow-up and correction of deficiencies. Supports teams by collecting and coordinating internal compliance data with facilities management technicians, external resources, and leadership. Provides administrative support by implementing systems, procedures, and policies; completes intiatives in support of compliance requirements. Proactively identifies regulatory compliance vulnerabilities and collaborates with leadership teams to identify corrective action plans to meet applicable codes and standards. Responsible for monitoring local, state, federal and TJC regulations for impact and effective application. Develops training on changes, develops, and implements strategies and recommendations to facilities management leadership teams to ensure on-going compliance. Provides applicable codes and standards interpretation, education, and communications with an emphasis on the training and development of the Facilities Management, Design & Construction and Real Estate teams. Actively participates and collaborates in the design development/review of renovations and new construction activities that have potential impact of the applicable built environment. Facilitates development, implementation and maintenance of system policies and procedures. Through a comprehensive, system level program/procedures, ensure the maintenance fire systems, fire equipment and Life Safety Drawings inventory control programs and records. Establishment of the system level water safety management program, in partnership with Infection Prevention and other stakeholders, including the establishment of policies and standard operating procedures for the proactive management of complex water systems in compliance with TJC standards and industry best practices. REQUIRED:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science Technology or equivalent level of education or experience - 5 years of healthcare-related experience in engineering, fire protection environment, building maintenance, building constructions, safety management, or related industry; experience in Life Safety Code compliance activities - Project management skills including coordination, communication, prioritization, troubleshooting, and completion goals; self-motivated and able to work independently to find solutions; detailed-oriented with strong analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office PREFERRED:
- NFPA Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS-HC) for Health Care Facilities Managers, NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI-I), or Certified Healthcare Fire Safety Professional (CHFSP) - Experience in TJC Physical Environment and CMS Conditions of Participation; In-depth knowledge of NFPA 101-Life Safety Code (ed. 2012) and the referenced associated publications; current knowledge of TJC Environment of Care standards including the NFPA-101 Life Safety Code and other relevant NFPA standards and requirements; Experience in a remote work environment.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Plant & Facilities ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
