Building Maintainer


Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a Building Maintainer to perform a variety of preventive and corrective maintenance assignments system-wide related to building and facilities upkeep, and other related support activities.
Essential Functions:
Inspect, maintain, repair and/or rebuild building structures and related building equipment to include, but not limited to, painting, patching, drywall, pumps/motors, fluid lines and related equipment, plumbing, sewers, exhaust fans, vacuums/cyclones, rooftop/boiler heating units, compressors, doors, ceilings, station/shelters, flooring, welding/burning, any/all related building systems or support systems, as needed. Inspect, maintain, clean and flush sewer lines, hoist pits, wash racks, excavations, and any and all related building systems or support systems, as needed. Operate mobile elevated platforms, forklifts and other equipment, as needed. Complete related paperwork/documentation, as required. Job requirements include:
High School Diploma or GED. Trade Certification or equivalent and one (1) year of directly related work experience; or three (3) years of directly related work experience within the past ten years; or one (1) year of Port Authority d/b/a/ Pittsburgh Regional Transit maintenance experience. All candidates shall be assigned to the Building Maintainer position for a sixty (60) day qualification period with an evaluation of the candidates performance every twenty (20) days. Upon the successful completion of the sixty (60) day qualification period, the employee will remain in the Building Maintainer position subject to the terms of the CBA. Valid PA Drivers License, Class C. For South Hills Junction location only, Obtain and maintain valid Commercial Drivers License, Class B with air brake restriction removed within 90 working days Obtain and maintain valid Commercial Drivers License, Class B with air brake restriction removed and P endorsement within 90 working days. Must obtain and maintain a backflow certification within 120 days of being scheduled for this training. Successful completion of job specific training, as required. Completion of the respirator Medical Evaluation questionnaire within 90 days of receipt of the evaluation package. This is a Safety Sensitive position subject to all testing provisions under the Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug and alcohol testing. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
