Process incoming and outgoing mail, including the processing of express mail. Ensure that incoming public inquiries and staff mail is properly opened, logged, read, and sorted into established categories for distribution to appropriate units and staff. Keep incoming and outgoing mail locked at all times while on medical center delivery runs which ensures patient's personal information is safeguarded. Provide information to customers or stakeholders regarding mail room processes. Work with customers to resolve mail related issues including clarifying user requirements, explaining delays, expediting deliveries and resolving problems. Ensure data accuracy in the automated system. Deliver mail in a timely and accurate manner. Perform general mail handling and distribution including sorting, opening date stamping, classifying, processing and routing mail. Route and distribute mail to customers throughout a medical center. Improve mail methods, procedures, and systems such as adapting or changing established mail procedures. Receive, collect, sort, and deliver mail or other documents according to predetermined routes. Handle security classified mail or mail requiring special precautions and special handing by selecting the most expeditious route for special or urgent delivery or handling; makes special trips to deliver mail, collects or distributes mail to several widely separated building or transit. Operate a variety of mail processing equipment; use machines such as equipment that sort, fold, identify by date and type of material, and any insert required; meter outgoing mail; and photocopiers to change the size of the original document. And, keeps equipment properly stocked. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-04 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-03. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Physical Requirements:
The work requires standing, walking and sitting during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of mail and packages (occasionally weighing as much as 40 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of mail and packages for shipment and delivery. With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
