Nurse Manager- Operating Room
Ensure staffing coverage for areas during hours of operation Provides support and feedback to staff involved in unit/nursing/VAPHS/VISN based committees and promotes implementation of committee goals Provides ongoing monitor of patient flow and area workload and maintains an understanding of medical center patient flow and related needs. Demonstrates professionalism in negotiation and conflict resolution to enable a productive, positive work environment. Ensures staff maintains knowledge of emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, fire plan, equipment failure, utility outage, and reusable medical equipment (RME). Ensures staff demonstrate clinical competence and remain up to date on defined unit based competencies, mandatory review and BLS. Effectively supervises and guides all levels of nursing and ancillary staff assigned to his/her areas. Maintains an understanding of organizational performance measures, organizational specific leadership strategic goals, VA-wide leadership goals, and individual core competencies. Reviews and shares results of staff satisfaction surveys with staff. Provides timely delivery of proficiencies (60 days prior to due date), performance appraisals, mid-term evaluations, deficiencies, recognition of contributions, competency validation. Utilizes the 30 day hiring model, while recruiting for open positions on the unit. Holds monthly area staff meetings, records and shares minutes will all staff and AFGE. Work Schedule:

In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript.
