Vehicle Description For your consideration is rare 1968 Ford XL Convertible.
Some call this the Galaxie 500 but the XL was its own model from Ford.
A level higher than the Ford Galaxie.
This rare and collectible full size ford is a great car to either drive and fix up, or a wonderful start for your full restoration dream! This car is running and driving.
While it needs some cosmetic attention and maintenance, it can be driven.
We would advice some basic service before using it on the street for reasons such as old tires and very loud exhaust.
It has been driven 15 miles in the past few weeks.

Born with an FE 390, the XL now has a 1972 460.
The 460 is in great running condition.
It does need a good bath and potentially painted, however mechanically it seems fine.
The oil is clean, coolant is clean, this 460 starts, idles and runs VERY STRONG.
It appears to be all 1972 stock excluding the Edelbrock Performer 460 aluminium intake and Edelbrock carburetor.
The 385 series 1972 C6 transmission shifts nice and firm.
The brakes stop the car well, power steering works too.
Frame & Underside:
This is the big concern with any 1965-1968 Full Size Ford.
The frame on this car is in great condition.
There is NO evidence of rust issues or frame repair.
The floors are in great shape, no signs of repair or rust.
This make sense since the car has always been a southern car.
Only sent to PA this spring for Fort Pitt Classic Cars to sell.
You will have good peace of mind to know this cars structure hasn't been rusty or pieced together.
Exterior:
The paint has the potential to shine however it is showing its age.
The '68 has had an older repaint years ago.
There are nicks, and chips.
The paint is still good enough to get attention and would be find if you are using this car as a driver.
The panles are all solid with no rust issues.
The only real issue is behind the rear window, there apparently has been some armature rust repair.
That would need done if you choose to restore the car.
Bumpers and trim could use some polishing.
The glass is good, top works well.
Interior:
Everything is in decent shape.
Not perfect but its all there.
Again, this car can be used as a driver or a full restoration.
The seats have been done in a red & white combo at some point.
They are comfy and in good shape.
The door panels appear to be original and are in fair condition.
The Dash pad has some cracks but has a cover.
The front of the dash is in decent shape.
The dash is an Air Conditioning dash even though the AC system is not on the car.
Window roll up and down with no issues.
The power top works very well.
HVAC blower works well though there is no heat or AC in the car.
All in all the car is a typical southern car in okay shape for its age and is very solid.
It would be great for someone looking to buy a car to restore or drive as is with some mild maintenance.
