Vehicle Description A car with special provenance, this all-original 1969 Shelby GT500 Fastback, now featured in the Maxmotive Pittsburgh Showroom, was formerly owned and loved by Carroll Shelby himself.
Powered by its original, numbers matching 428ci Cobra Jet 335hp V8 engine mated to the original 4-speed manual transmission and factory shifter, this is one survivor that has lived a life of royalty.
The car is accompanied by the Shelby Vehicle Authenticity Certificate, documineting Carroll Shelby's ownership, Shelby sales brochure, Elite Marti Report, and more.
Obviously well cared for since new, a recent service has been performed.
Presented in its factory finish of Royal Maroon over a wonderfully preserved white knit interior, this exceptional example was assembled in January 1969 in Dearborn, Michigan, and sold new at Pletcher Ford in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania to its first owner.
It remained with its first and only owner until Shelby expert Stephen Becker learned of the car being offered for sale.
Becker informed Carroll Shelby personally of its availability and shortly after, the GT500 was procured by Carroll Shelby for his personal collection.
Carroll was so enthralled with his GT500 that he personally adorned it with the famous Terlingua Racing Team logo on the windshield, in reference to the racing team that Shelby co-founded in 1965.
The GT500 came with a fiberglass ram air hood, fiberglass front and rear fenders, and sequential turn signals.
Today the car presents in highly original condition showing only 64,505 miles.
It is truly Shelby's Shelby, sure to be a welcome addition to any premier collection.
MaxMotive is pleased to offer you the opportunity to acquire this desirable and especially significant automobile.
